Ashington Extended Services
Partnership aims to secure a
better future for all children,
whatever their background.

Welcome

The Ashington Extended Services Partnership has been set up to implement the Government’s Every Child Matters agenda launched in 2003, with the objective of securing a better future for all children, whatever their background. The Government wants every child to be healthy, safe, to enjoy achieving, to be able to make a positive contribution to their school and community and to achieve economic well-being, so that they are ready to take their place in the world of work.

Mick Spencer, headteacher within the partnership, said “The Extended Services initiative is something that we, as the schools involved, hope will make a big impact on the area. Schools should be at the heart of the community and they should work closely together to support and develop the resources that you can access.

As schools, we are working closer together in supporting children from their earliest years into their adult lives.

Clearly there is a great deal of work still to be done, including writing a development plan for the partnership based on an audit of what the schools are currently offering, and what they feel they should be offering. Similarly, a consultation exercise with the community will take place to inform the development plan.
